Chloe was my first show Shiba and came from the wonderful folks at Rodel Shibas in Pennsylvania. Tom & Sandie Rolenaitis went against their policy of not selling to show/breeding homes and took a chance on this rank beginner from Canada, for which I am eternally grateful. Chloe has been, and continues to be, a joy and, although her daughter has taken over as Queen of Akanami, Chloe still considers herself the #1 Princess.

Chloe distinguished herself in two areas:
1)    attaining her Canadian and American championships very quickly with multiple group placements in Canada and Best of Breed in the U.S. In her first year showing, Chloe was the #5 Shiba Inu in Canada (#1 bitch).
2)    being a wonderful “mom” to three litters. It was a thrill to watch her teach & discipline the pups, passing on her excellent temperament. Her first litter, by Can/Am Ch Innisfree Kin No Takara (“JB”) had two champions: a) Can/Am Ch Akanami Marco Polo (“Sonny”) who was #3 Shiba in Canada his first year of showing. Sonny was a multiple Group winner and the sweetest boy one would ever want to meet. His calling should be therapy work. b) Am Ch. Rodels Sea Siren of Akanami (‘Cher”) who won the hearts of all who knew her with her spunk.
Chloe’s second litter, by Am Ch. Genta Go Gold Typhoon (“Cutter”), was a singleton and her third litter, also by Cutter, was distinguished by a little lady we call “Maiko”, meaning “Little Geisha”. Maiko (Ch. Akanami Crimson Lace) finished her Canadian title quickly with multiple group placings. In the not too distant future, we hope to take her stateside for her US title.

CH AKANAMI CRIMSON LACE
(Can/Am Ch. Rodels Crimson and Clover x Am Ch. Genta Go Gold Typhoon, JP - ROM, HOFX)
DOB December 31, 2002

    Maiko @ 4wks                                                @ 18mo

Maiko was named for her mother, “Chloe” (see above) and her maternal grandmother, Am Ch. Blue Mountain’s Scarlet Lace, AOM, ROM, HOF (“Lacie”). A real spitfire who prefers running over walking, Maiko loves to tunnel through the snow and will stay outside in the coldest of weather. Crinkle a paper or show a treat and she’s dancing on her hind legs, waving her front paws, a smile on her face. The next minute she’s curled up on your lap.

A definite joy to have in the Akanami family, Maiko whelped her first litter in May, 2005 - see link to "Litter(s)" and will be bred again in May of 2006, as well as campaigning for her US title.
